Environmental Pollution

Environmental Pollution

Pollution means making things dirty. It is one of the evils brought about by the growth of science and technology. Industries empty their wastes into the river. These wastes comprise harmful chemicals. They not only kill the living things in the river but also spread a number of diseases. Habitancy who drink this water or bathe in the river become easy prey to deadly diseases.

Factories and industries keep throwing out smoke. These smokes comprise toxic gases. They pollute the air. Habitancy breathing this impure air get disease affecting the lungs and respiratory system. Owing to this pollution, the ozone layer in the climate is becoming thinner and thinner. As a consequent the solar radiation hits us directly and causes diseases like skin cancer.

Acid rain is one of the threats of pollution. We burn coal, petrol and diesel in vehicles and power stations. The fumes given out comprise oxides of nitrogen, carbon and sulfur. They react with water vapor and furnish acids. The acid rain that falls to the earth corrodes houses and antique structure of historical value. The acidity in the water destroys fish and other aquatic life. Forest begins to die. The oxides of carbon and nitrogen trap the heat of the sun. As a consequent the atmospheric heat increases. That is called global warming.

Noise pollution in cities is an additional one menace. Loud speakers keep blaring out day and night. Vehicles in the roads and the jet planes in the air send out unbearable noise. The air horns in the busses give out ear-splitting noise. The noise tells on our nerves. One who is exposed to this noise becomes tense and agitated. The sick and the old are unable to rest peacefully. Students are unable to couple on their studies. It is high time we took steps to control the pollution of air, water and our eco system.

Water is valuable for plants and animals. Without water nothing on earth can live. We get fresh water by means of rainfall. The rain water goes into the soil and accumulates as ground water. We make use of this ground water by digging wells and bore wells. Recently the ground water level is going down at an alarming rate. The decline in ground water causes dry wells. This leads to water scarcity. Habitancy have to suffer a lot to get drinking water.

India receives good rainfall during the rainy season. But most of the water runs off into gutter and rivers. The flooded rivers empty the water into the seas. As a consequent the earth goes dry during summer season. The ground water levels sinks deeper and deeper.

Scarf Knitting Patterns - How to Make a Dazzling Confetti Scarf

Scarf Knitting Patterns - How to Make a Dazzling Confetti Scarf

Of all the scarf knitting patterns out there, nothing makes a gorgeous and bold fashion statement as this dazzling confetti scarf. The best part of production this task is that it makes use of large needles that make the yarn superbly easy and straightforward to knit!

You'll need:

1. 160 meters of bulky ribbon yarn
2. Size 15 Us needles
3. Stitch markers, crochet hook and tapestry needle

Gauge: The gauge is not indispensable due to the loose texture of the piece.

Size: The length is practically 66 inches which includes the fringe; width is practically 4 inches.

Let's start!

1. Begin by casting on 14 stitches

2. For Row 1: knit

3. For Row 2: purl

4. Switch to garter stitch by knitting every row until the task measures about 50 inches.

5. Purl one row, next, knit the last row.

6. Bind off and don't forget to weave in the loose ends.

How to make the fringe:

I advise using open stitch markers so that you can properly resolve where you want to place the fringe.

1. Cut about 60 strands of yarn (about 18 inches each).

2. Divide the strands of yarn in 12 groups, each one consisting of five fringe strands.

3. Secure a group of 5 fringe strands, beginning at one of the short edges.

4. *Put in the crochet hook beginning from back to front all the way into the openings just above the second row of the piece's edge.

5. Fold the fringe strands in half and make a loop by retention the cut ends together.

6. Next, put the loop on top of the hook and pull it halfway through the piece.

7. To generate a knot, pull the cut ends of the fringe through the loop. Do this with the hook still in place.

8. To tighten, pull the fringe ends.

9. Repeat from step 4 5 times, production sure to allow an even space between fringes along the scarf's edge, creating a total of 6 groups of fringes.

10. Repeat the process at the opposite end of the scarf.

11. Trim the fringes to at least 8 inches.
